Overhaulin'

How do I decide how much $$ to ask for when selling a car for parts only?

I have a 1993 Honda Accord 4-door. I want to sell it for parts as it does not run. I do not have the title for it, but it is legally registered to me.

  1. 500 or best offer. as is where is
  2. Used card parts are usually sold as is, so you are not going to get more than about $1000-$1500 at best.
  3. A parts car doesn't need a title, but it would help if you are trying to sell the whole car to one person. If you are selling the parts individually, post an open ad for u-pull-it Accord parts and people will pay you for the parts they need. You can make a lot more money that way. Parts usually go for $5 - $300 depending on the part. Parts cars depend on if the car's glass is all in tact, title status, and condition of the body. Yours should be able to go for $500 easy.
  4. Parting out a car can take a lot of time if you do it piece by piece. I have been in this predicament a couple of times and decided to just call the local junk yard and have the thing hauled away. My local junk yard gives you $50 for a car which is not near what you can make on parts but it is $50 more than you have now. I had some friends e-bay the parts off of a car which is a little more hassle but you can actually make money if you put in the time to post and then ship the items. I think it depends how much you want to put into it. If you don't know much about cars and parts prices maybe the junk yard would be the way to go. You don't need a title in my state to take a car to salvage.
  5. Go to your local garage
  6. you should go to scrap yards that have used car part, than call around honda service areas and than you can set your price $5.00 to $10.00 cheaper than the store price to compete.. cause when people buy things off of people on the street they always want a deal...
  7. In many states it is not legal to sell a car with no title. The only way would be to take parts off and sell them piece by piece. Why do you not have the title. I would apply for a duplicate title then sell the entire car to one person. Running or not a 93 Honda accord w/title is worth about 1500. With out a title maybe a 50-100 to a junk dealer. Licensed wrecking yards are required to have titles to every car in the yard.
  8. people without titles are at the salvage yards mercy of getting anything at all for the car, because the salvage operater has to have titles for all vehicles on his lot.to show secretary of state he legally owns all cars on his lot.each vehicle hes caught with is a felony conviction for him, with possible jail time.loss of business liscense.with the title your cars worth one ton 2000 lbs.cars are bought by weight.the current price, can be assessed by calling a metal salvage yard for junk tin price per ton.2000 lbsx say 90$=90$ in your case, hope this helps 4800llbsx90$=189$ for heavier car.
  9. park it out front put up a sign that says u-pullit $25. means they do the work n give u the 25$ for the part.dont let go of the motor, tranny, or rear end for less than 250.00 ea. especially the motor due to the fuel prices 4 and 6 cylinders are in high demand by the way u can junk it without a title
