Customs issues with selling a car in the us to someone in Canada?

Someone has contacted us regarding a car we own in the U.S. and would like to purchase, but they live in Canada, Says we need to give him before purchase the vin number and our complete address for customs, is this correct.

2. Check with Canadian Customs as cars imported to Canada need to meet certain requirements as to safety and pollution standards. Vin number may be required by your purchaser to verify if car meets Canadian standards. As for your address I do not know if that is needed to import a car. Check with customs.
