What does a uk resident need to purchase a car in the US?

I'm planning a road trip through the US and intend to buy a car rather than hire/leasing one. Selling the car when I'm done. Has anyone done this and can you tell me what is required, i.e. insuring and registering the car? Licence requirements? Any help appreciated...

1. Valid Driver's License, A physical address where the car will be parked for Insurance purposes and registration. Cash or good credit will also help!
2. to be honest I dont think you will be able to do that, a good idea but it is flawed the dealers have to see a valid american licence and a permanent address in the USA plus you may not be able to obtain insurance for the same reasons
3. You whould need to get a licence that is issued by a state within the united states. You will have to take a basic written as well as road test.Plan on a whole day at the dmv. Once you have the drivers licence; You can head to a dealership. The registration will be taken care of by the car dealership you could also insure the vechical with the car dealership. That all being said the amount of money that you are going to loose in a quick sale of a vechical will be about 20% lost on the purchase price. This will more then pay for a car rental of almost any same class of car. Google car rental/ the type of vechical that you plan on renting/buying. You can rent 6 digit vechicals for 4 digit prices. You will still need a licence to run down the roads though. Goodluck
