Overhaulin'

Where can I sell a junk car in Jackson, MS, and how much can I expect to get for it?

It is a 1998 Chrysler Concorde, the motor needs to be replaced or overhauled. In good condition, just put tires and a new CD player in it before it went bad. Still drives, but really not driveable. Trying to sell it to collect money for a down payment.

  1. You have two choices. Sell it to a junk yard for a few hundred bucks or give it to a local chairty that accepts cars as donations. The donation route is probably a better idea, first it's charity and everyone needs to give when they can and you'll get to deduct the value of the car off your taxes.
  2. Try Nucor Steel or Mississippi General Recycle (both are located on Flowood Drive). There is also a scrap yard located in Pearl off of Highway 475 (take I-20 to the 475 exit and go toward Highway 468) You may also try to sell it privately or possibly to a older model used dealer. If I sold it, I would to sell it privately.
  3. Don't expect much at all. The tires and CD player don't help at all. A salvage yard isn't going to look at your car and say "It doesn't run, but WOW, look at those tires!" They couldn't care less. Take the CD player out before they haul it away too. Expect $100-$200.
