Should I sell or junk my car?
My 1997 mazda has 165,000 miles. It has a dented front, headlight problems, bad tail-light, the windsheild wipers don't work, and the altenator seems to be bad. The blue-book price in fair condition is $1,500 (obviously it is lower than fair). I also lost the title, so I will have to spend money on that in order to sell it. Will a salvage yard pay me anything for it? Should I just junk it? Or should get a new title and put it in the newpaper?

- I would sell it for parts. Also, might want to call your local salvage yard and see what they will give you for it.
- Just another option, see if donating the car works out in your favor. I donated my '75 Monte Carlo, I forget to whom (which was not in preemo condition), and they gave me a great value for it to claim on my taxes. But you'll still need the title...
- with those problems you would be lucky to find a consumer to pay 500.00 for that car and its problems, i dont think it would be worth the hassle,,, a junk yard depending on where you live should give you 100.00 and also the free tow,, 1 other idea would be to put it in the paper as a parts vehicle, it will take awhile to d=get rid of the whle thing but you will make more money.
- Maybe you can donate it You help people and get a tax deduction for the value of the car.
- Mate, sell it on some auction website. I'm sure there's someone out there that is interested.
- If you have the time and space, part it out on ebay and you will make alot more in the long run.
- A friend of mine bought a car like that for alot cheaper. Try for a new title & sell it.
- either sell its parts on ebay or give it to a salvage yard and theyll pay you the amount its worth in their eyes, etc
- I would donate it. call the Salvation Army or someone like that, they will give you a good tax deduction
- How about donating it using a bill of sale to the charity. That way you don't have to get a title and you can still get the tax deduction. But check with a salvage place or two first just in case you want cash. You could also place an ad on www.craigslist.com for $1000 and that way you won't have to pay for the ad. You can post four photos for free and you can reduce the price if you need or want to. The ad runs as long as you want for free. This is probably the best way to see if it has value - with the least amount of effort. Good luck:)
- Whatever you decide, you will need a title, so go apply for a lost title. Once you have that, offer it as is and someone will buy it for parts or to fix and drive it.
- you need to get the title no matter what. a salvage yard will give between $200 and $500. find a used car you like and negotiate a price. then after you've made the deal then tell them you have a car to trade in see what they will give you for it. "if" you itemize deductions on your income tax donate to charity and take the deduction. or put add in paper for best offer. ,,^._.^,,
