How can I get the most money for my car? Junk it or sell it?

I have a '93 Buick Skylark in need of new struts, brake pads, air conditioner and a new muffler. The car runs well (considering the repairs) and it's great with gas and the body is in great condition but my husband is not mechanically inclined and if we were to take it to a repair shop they would charge alot for parts and labor. And we really don't need a new one nor do we want to invest money into the car. I just want to get it out of our garage. I have thought about selling it but it would have to be to someone who is willing to work on it. But I feel that if I do that, I might lose out on some cash. I also considered a junk/salvage yard. Because I know they will get as many parts as they can off of it but I don't even know what to accept as an offer from one of these places. How much should I expect? How can I get the most money?

  1. PART IT OUT ON EBAY.
  2. I'd just put it in the paper sell it "as is" but state what's wrong with it...then add a line that say's something like "great fishing car," or "great for student" or "great cheap transportation." Lot's of people are in need of transportation and would be willing to buy it as is...someone who can work on a car can fix those things easily. Put a price in that you think is fair then add "or Best Offer." I bet it will sell!
  3. sell the parts individually
