Do I have to have a auto dealers license or a junk dealers license?

I buy and sell junk cars. Am I supposed to get a dealers license from the DMV after I sell a certain amount of junk cars? Is there a way around getting a dealers licensing, i.e. just using bills of sale? Is it possible to get a dealers license and use your home as physical address? I did get the city to go for my business which would be considered a junk dealer/transportation business with NO storage allowed, but will the dmv go for that? Bottomline, how can I sell all the junks that I pick up in the most legal way possible with the situation of not having a storage facility but still making it work?
