Restoring a classic car as a hobby?
I've been thinking about bringing up the subject with my dad. I asked my mom a while back and she liked the idea. Do you people think restoring a classic car on our spare time as a hobby is a wise idea? I'm not really sure what king of car, mind you, but I was thinking about an Austin Cooper S.

- Doing it on your spare time is the way to go that way you do'nt get into a hurry
- I have restored a MGA many years ago. It was a very simple car to work on but .... Have plenty of time, the skills and tools you will need. Of course you need a garage with space to work on it, it cannot be left outside during restoration. But the main resource is and endless supply of money and lots of it.
- Restoring an ORIGINAL Mini Cooper is a good idea.
- its a really good idea and will also serve as your bonding time and leisure activity. it would be costly though but I think its worth it.
- That's a great idea. My son and I are restoring a 1963 Triumph Spitfire. These cars are relatively inexpensive, available and parts are easy to obtain. The Spitfire is really easy to work on too.
- As a hobby, excellent However, If for investment, then I will tell you the same thing I tell anyone else who asks me what car to get for an investment; Get (and/or restore) the car you want, if you make money on it, fine, if not, you still have the car you wanted. :)
