What parts of a car should I remove and sell before scrapping it?
I had a gentleman buy my car for $460 and said that he buys cars everyday, takes 10 mins to pull "certain parts" out of the car and junks it and makes double or over double of what he purchased the car for. I would like to start doing the same. What are these "certain parts", how much are they generally worth? How do you make a profit/living buy purchasing cars on craigslist, etc. and scraping them?

- pretty much everything that works and everything that you can take off. For example.. you can take out the seats and easily sell them, if the engine or transmission or any of that works.. keep it. you can keep door panels, radio, steering column, dash board, even the doors if they are in good shape, anything and everything you can strip off the frame. i also know people who have been successful at this and i know people who buy things like this. i have a friend who bought a cheap truck and just bought piece by piece off craigslist to fix it up. good luck at this and i think if you do it right you could be very successful.
- A car is like anything else, if someone needs parts they will buy them. So I would suggest buying a high volume selling car. More cars sold, the more people will need parts. As for which parts it depends, again on what people need. Someone may need the transmission, someone else may only need a sun visor. I'd list the whole car on Craig's as a parts car. Sell what you can and if the profits right you can than junk the car. Also remember if you have neighbors they can complain about the car(s).
- Go on ebay and browes the parts section to see what people are looking for,go to the want it now section and type in the make and model and see what people are looking for also, i go to the vintage parts on ebay motors , i sell parts on ebay sometimes and u get more $ on the vintage sections, willys jeep, thunderbird ( 1960's ), older mustangs, etc. and always sell worldwide, i sell more parts to people in other countries. go to a easy pull junk yard where u take the parts off your self , its work but u can make good money !!
