if i sell my old car to someone and they decide they dont want it do i have to refund them?

3. I think you're in the clear, but it is always a good idea to write a receipt that says that the car is "sold as is" and that there will be no refunds. That way, there are no questions.

9. No. Once you sign over the deed and they take possession of the car (after paying you of course), then it's theirs.

13. It depends on which state you live in, but sense it was second hand and not direct retail, you do not have to legally, if them don't want it, they can just resell it.

15. NOPE! Its their problem now! If they bought it from lets say FORD.... a few months later... they dont like the color? Is ford gonna give them 100% back? NO WAY try trading that in and loosing a bunch. Tell them you so it as is and tell them to put it on craigslist!

18. No. You do not have to. If you want to be nice you could but I would have it taken to a mechanic to make sure its in the same shape as when you sold it. I would also subtract the mechanic charge from their refund. Merry Christmas
19. Depends on your state - Some states have lemon laws.
20. Always write up a bill of sale:" Car sold as is / no refunds". And unless you're a dealer, no they don't.
21. If it's legal sale with title transfer they can not return it, if they legally could then people would be buying cars like it was a free lease. The only cases where they can return the car is if you let them or if you said something about the car that wasn't true when you sold it to them.
22. NOPE.............. THIS IS THE LAW, ANY SALE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE BY A PRIVATE PARTY IS CONSIDERED AN "AS-IS" SELL. THE SALE IS FINAL WHEN THE PARTIES EXCHANGE TITLE FOR MONEY AND AT THAT POINT IT IS A DONE DEAL.
23. OKAY anyone who says "NO< or ABSOLUTELY NOT"..is a complete idiot. EVERY SINGLE STATE IN THE UNITED STATES, MUST (i repeat MUST) allow for the return of any vehicle in a reasonable time frame. One guy (the only smart one) told you that as well. No car can be sold strictly "as is", even if the mileage is over 100k !!!! Technically, anyone who buys a car has the chance to return if there's issues or even just cause they wanna !!! (but the time frame IS limited).
