i have a car that i am purchasing and still owe money on but i was mailed the title of the car with no lien?
there is no lien on the title and when i contacted the dmv there was nothing on the the title showing i owe money or anything about the lien. can i sell the car legally>? also would they find out if i just sold the car but continued to make payments to the credit company>?

- Turn and burn baby, turn and burn. They GAVE you the car! Now, if they find the mistake and you haven't transferred the title into anyone Else's' name, they can put a lien on it. Also, if you want to keep the car...you could put your own lien on it. Just go to the dmv and tell them you want to be listed as a lien holder on the title...and because yours will be the first lien listed, you will have the higher priority in court...(and if the dealer or lender repos the car they will have to settle with you before they can sell it...lol). Good luck
