How To Sell A Used Car?

I want to sell my car. I don't have the title. How do I complete the sale if their is a lien on the vehicle? How do I protect myself to make sure the funds from the buyer are good?

1. Get all your documents on the car ready.You can't sell it if you don't have the title.
2. Contact the state or county to try and get a title and remove the lien (you will probably have to pay for both). To protect yourself do any accept any money transfer from western union or anything like that. Also if they write you a check take a photocopy of their drivers license. The best way to protect yourself is to only accept cash. Also NEVER accept a check for a higher amount then your selling price because it will be a scam.
3. If you are planning to replace the car, try a place like Carmax or even the dealer you bought the car from. It is easiest with them. In any case you can't sell the car till you have paid it off, just check with the bank you loaned it out from.
