How are cop cars modified?
Is any work done to the engine? Every time I see cop tearing ass it sounds like they have some kind of supercharger under the hood.

- Many ways, dual exhausts, bigger engines, aluminum driveshafts, not governed for speed like your car is, stronger steel wheels, better tires, etc.
- Most police cars ARE NOT modified from the way they came from the factory. Most individual police agencies don't have the time or money to mess with a car they are only going to keep for 2-3 years anyway. Some have special 'police packages' installed at the factory that could give them more power or quicker acceleration than a car sold to the general public, but mostly it's just heavy duty suspension and different gearing.
- The newer models have a "chip" put into the electronic brain to the fuel injection that increases horsepower QUITE a bit ...in California the Ford Mustangs the CHP had those and they were used for "pursuit"cars...
- Typically the cop cars get all the good stuff added for cost or no charge. Mostly the cars have modifications to the transmissions (fully overdriven as opposed to 1 overdrive on the top end) also many of them come with heavy duty parts that can withstand additional wear such as Detroit -lockers in the rear end..., stuff like that. I have know very few of them to really have supercharged engines. (Yes, even the police force is a bit concerned about fuel economy, and often has a tight budget, big power costs big money.
- They aren't modified, they come from the factory with a police package, stronger frame, bigger brakes, heavy duty generator, different chips that don't limit top speed, that type of thing.
- they are not modified. They just have a police package.
