is it possible to put a hybrid engine in an older or classic car?
Like my old jeep... or something really sweet like a Bel Air or other classic.

- anything is possible.
- If it were the case... They would have been doing it all along. Older cars take more to move them because of their higher weight.
- You could build your own electric or hybrid, but to use someone elses whole powerplant (like a Prius engine) you would need to buy the whole car and transplant everything including all wiring and electronics.
- It is possible but unlike common engine swaps today there are no manuals plus the time, labor and money you would put into it would be crazy. Along with wiring harness and CPU the computer programming for this is left for the likes of Bill Gates
- Yup anything is possible! You just need to have a lot of cash for that project. http://www.thepartsbin.com/guides/gmc/yukon.html
- It really depends on what kind of engine you will be installing. Just make sure it is compatible with the car.
- Why would you want to? Main advantage of a (non-plug-in) hybrid is the regenerative braking, which is probably the most difficult part to retrofit. Fitting a modern diesel engine would probably be easier and save more money/emissions. Someone here said that older cars are heavier than modoern cars, but I think the reverse is true. My Mazda RX7 (which is 16 years old but which I consider modern) is known for it slilght weight but is still 300 lbs heavier than my e-type, which would have been regarded as heavy in its day.
