What is the law concerning "Classic" cars and emissions in Colorado?

Im doing a frame off restoration on a 64 Impala. Original engine and transmission are gone, New engine and transmission are from a 2002 Camaro Z28. I want to make sure I am following all emission control laws. Although it is a 1964, the engine and transmission are newer. I would have liked to keep the original engine and transmission, However they were already gone when I purchased this car 3 years ago. Your responses are greatly appreciated.

1. Not sure about CO. but as far as every other state I've lived in you won't have problems. Keep it registered as '64 and don't say anything about the motor changeout if you have to get an emmissions test.
