Prius 2008 vs. Prius 2009?
Hi All - I live in Toronto, Canada. I have just signed to purchase the Prius 2008 yesterday, but this morning I have got a call from the dealership, they are saying that the Japan Toyota plant has sold out all the 2008 models, and dealership was advised to stop selling 2008, but to sell 2009. Does anyone have any solid information on the Prius 2009? I have looked online at some spy photos for the 2009. Personally, the look is very similar, but just a little different at front which I can live with. But how about the specs? Engine etc? Are there any differences between the two? I neither am just a little worried that I have not personally seen nor test driven a 2009 model. How about also winter driving?? I heard some issue with the traction control system on the Prius? I am currently driving a Scion xA... so I am thinking that the Prius will be a better car for winter anyway, b/c of the weight & engine. Thanks in advance for all the help!

Replace with a seasonal winter/snow/traction tire, or with a better "all-season" M+S tire, and you'll be fine. Make a satisfactory test drive a requirement before you sign/purchase the car. To my knowledge, Toyota has not announced any changes yet for the 2009 Prius, so it should be the same as for 2008. Toyota Canada recently dropped the price on the 2008, so hopefully it'll stay the same for 2009. be sure to check in with the Canada-Prius owner's group I linked to in the other Y!A, and to check out the Canadian federal and provincial rebates and tax programs.
- sorry....i liv in th US & im not sure wht th Prius drives lik or th '09 will drive like. i cant wait 2 c th new one..
- I have read in numerous publications that the '09 will be exactly like the '08. The change is coming in 2010. I used to live in Colorado and saw Prius all over the place, so I am guessing that it is fine for light snow.
