Is it a bad idea to buy a car that use to be a rental car?

I found a car I want to buy & I did a carfax report & it was a rental car but it's in great condition-what do you think? I DID A CARFAX REPORT-NOTHING BAD HAS HAPPENED TO THIS CAR & IT ONLY HAS 32,000 MILES & IS A 2006

  1. its not a bad idea. the only down side to having one of those cars is the fact that the mileage is probably really high.
  2. no good idea 1 thing they keep up maintaince high miles is ok cause most were hwy
  3. well...brians wife lol sorry but i found that funny...sometimes rental cars have been abused, but not necessarily all the time. I mean think of it this way...if you have a car that wasn't yours and covered by insurance, would you care how you treated it? just an idea...good luck though, the choice is really up to you.
  4. My friend likes to abuse the car when he rents them. But that is rare. === Most rentals are sold with just 10k to 15K miles. That is their rules. These shops also maintain them well. Then if the price is good, that would be a good idea. But many small shops hold them till they are 30K to 60K miles. Then it would NOT be a good idea. good luck...
  5. I think it will be bad idea because a car used for rental obviously have had tons of miles; and don't forget some people can "cheat" or "fix" the mileage and fool you! i need advices http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvAAN1NTuiJVl0Aj_X.STZ7sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080713204351AAnzXpB
  6. its not bad at all. actually my family has a '95 corsica that has been dead for almost 8 months that use to be a rental car we got it for $10,900.00 when it had 29,000 miles on it. i'm now asking $400.00 for the body though
  7. I wouldn't. You don't know how it's been driven or if it's been in a flood. Worst case scenario, was it in hurricane Katrina? I heard there is a way to get the history of a car but I'm not sure how. However, you still don't know how each person drove it. If you want to pay about $75, you can get a point inspection on the car to have it checked out. Just be careful! Good Luck.
  8. the mileage would be pretty high and that when you want to sell out your car in the future won't be of much value and some people might of crashed it and you won't notice.
  9. Ask to have a look at the service record,wh knows maybe the engine or tranny has been replaced.
  10. i bought one and its been one of the best cars i have ever owned the maintenance was well kept up on it,and it runs and drives really good we have had it for about 6 years now with absolutely no problems at all,so if you do decide to buy one have it checked,i checked this one over real good and made a good decision on it,good luck,
  11. haha whenever i get a rental i drive it like i stole it.... i dont know if others do the same thing but the next step for rentals in my opinion are junkyards
  12. i would not buy a rental car thay get ripped back an forth by the renter
  13. Not a good idea. Rentals get abused. When my buddies and I would rent a car for a golf outing in Myrtle Beach, the slogan was "F it.....it's a rental". And off the curb we'd go !!
