Should I sell/buy a car in South Florida or Southern California?

I'm moving from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles. I'm selling a Mazda Tribute and looking to purchase the Prius. I know there are many factors involved in buying cars, but is there any general sense as to where I should do each of these transactions? Should I sell my Tribute in FL since SUV's are less desired in LA? Should I buy the Prius in LA or FL considering taxes or something else?

1. Okay.........sell the Mazda in Florida because if you sell it in California you as the seller will have to get it smog tested before you can sell to anyone which can be very expensive and their vehicle laws are much more stricter as you probably know. Then buy the Prius in Florida as well, you might have to pay a little more in California to get it registered but in the long run you will be ahead of the game....
