I need to know some info ? can a adult sell a 17 yr old a car w/out kids parnets permisson?

my 17 yr old son bought a car from his friend n the kid is only 16 how can this happpen? and should i call the law?

  1. If the title was in your son's friend's name then he can, but I bet it wasn't!
  2. technically, it is ok..to an extent...he could have bought the car with his own money, but since he is not 18, the parent/legal guardian HAS to have his/her name on the cars title
  3. check the title in most states minors (under 18) cannot enter into a legal contract.
  4. A dealer will not sell a minor a car because on their 18th birthday they can walk in with their parents and basically claim we took advantage of them and we have to buy the car back--full price. An individual would be subject too the same consequences I would think, but bottom line it is a civil matter and legally there is no defense for the sale to a known minor. Check the laws in your state.
