How should I collect payment for a car that I want to sell on CraigsList?

On Craigslist there is a warning that says: Most cashier's check or money orders offered to craigslist sellers are COUNTERFEIT -- cashing them can lead to financial ruin How can I safely sell my car on Craigslist and not be scammed?

5. Cash is an option. Depending on the location, you may be able to got to the buyers bank with them, and have the bank issue you a cashiers check. If you get it directly from the bank, you have no worries about the check being fraudulent. You can also go to your bank with the buyer, and have the branch manager call the issuing bank to confirm the validity of the check. Get a copy of they buyers driver's license, and insist on them picking up the car themselves. Most scams involve you shipping the car. If someone comes in person, and you have a copy of their ID, it is much less likely that it is a scam!
