  1. You will need a license and when you get will get in mail all auctions.Online -No way!!! You will pay what a dealer does -KBB trade in fair condition as a guide. Also auction fee. If you want a less then 1000.00 car go to New car dealers and ask to go to the "pen" which is where their auction bound cars go. They would love to sell a 1000.00 car there then pay 200.00 to sell and more to get it there at auctions. Plus they usually take under 1000.00 cars and sell in bunches as some lose money and some make but it is a more break even thing at auction when selling. If anyone asks you to pay fee to bid it is scam.
  2. There are all kinds of car auctions -- dealer auctions (must have dealer's license), public auctions, police auctions, repo auctions, government auctions, and so on. Here's an article with more details: http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/carauctions.htm The web sites that offer directories of such auctions are mostly legit but their data may be limited or out of date. So, if you buy, make sure they have a money-back guarantee in case you are not happy with the service.
  3. You can get cars for as low as $500 at some car auctions. The car auction sites that want you to pay for membership fees are pretty legit. They give you instant access to info on car auctions near you and the cars they have for sale, which can save you a lot of time and money. They basically end up paying for themselves once you buy your car. MyCarAuctionReview.com has a review of the best ones you can join. You should check it out.
