Why did my car insurance get higher?
My car insurance is going up over $100 per 6 months *shocked face* I am curious. Is car insurance in general getting much higher? Or would this increase be due to a wreck I had in January? (It was totally not my fault, but the guy who hit me wasn't insured.) p.s. If it makes a difference, I use progressive insurance. I spent over a month calling around - they had the best offer for me last year. But now I guess it's time to see what else is out there.

- It could be the accident. Insurance is computed by your driving record, your car type, and where you live. Remind your insurance company that you were not at fault in the accident. Get a copy of the police report and provide copies to agents you price shop at. Increase your deductable only if you have enough to cover it saved up in an emergency fund.
- progressive insurance is in the top five of the highest and yes thats what they do when you have a wreck they raise your rates... kind of to teach you to be more careful.. and you can always make a few more calls for another company
- Because it was time to renew. It Progressive had losses in the last quarter they gave a general increase to everyone. In 9 years I've had insurance actually go down only once.
