can I still buy car even if all I get is just an ssi check?
I am wondering if I can still buy a car if all I get is just an ssi check each month, and what do I have to do in order to buy a car.

- Do you mean you get SS with SSI supplementing? Chances are your income will be too low to qualify for financing. If you live with someone, and don't have to pay rent/utilities and such, you may be able to work out a deal. It's all about your debt to income ratio, and being on SSI means you don't have much income. You would have a better shot at it, if you go to a buy here/pay here lot, the main problem with this is that you will pay extremely high interest rates, something I wouldn't pay. Buying from a private seller may be your best option, saving and then paying cash, you'll still have insurance costs to consider, but you won't be locked into full coverage, like you would be if you finance it. Good luck, shop around and take someone knowledgeable about cars, so that you get the best deal possible.
- They cannot discriminate based on source of income, but you have to have a pretty good credit score and you have to buy in your income range. Probably not a new car but a pretty good used car. In order to buy you have to go to a dealer.
