capital one car loan question

i have a question. i want to apply for an auto loan for capital one. Once i submit my application...if i get approved...do they automatically send the blank check?...or do i have to tell them...that i approve of the loan amount. ALSO...if i decide not to use their loan ....can i just thro the check away?..or do i have to call and tell them im using someobdy else?
