How do I get my dad to let me drive his car/buy me one?

I just turned 16 and I'm a good student and overall responsible person. My parents and I had a deal that if I got a perfect score on the SAT, I'd get any car I wanted (I was looking at a BMW 6-series). Instead of a 2400 (perfect), I got a 2340. My parents can absolutely afford to buy me a car (maybe not a $100,000 one, but a car nonetheless). We have an extra car that pretty much just sits in the garage, but my parents still refuse to let me drive it. How can I convince them to buy me a used car or let me drive their extra car?

  1. Do Something That Shows U R Very Responsible To Let Them See That You Would Be Responsible With A Car. Or Just Do Alot Of Chores Around The House And Earn It.
  2. Here a few different ideas for you: 1. Ask them exactly what you need to do to use the extra car your family has- then do it. 2. Show that you have a legitimate need for the car and show them how it would benefit them to let you have it. Give them the WIFM- what's in it for me? Tell them all the benefits they will recieve if they let you have their extra car. 3. Go above and beyond- take the car and get it washed and serviced (oil changed and fluids topped) this at most will cost you $30.00 if you go to a self serve car wash and get a cupon for an oil change. Your efforts will show that you are willing to take care of what they give you.
  3. A 2340 is pretty damn good. Congrats. If your parents absolutely refuse to buy you a car or let you drive theirs, then I guess get a job and buy your own car. You don't have to get a new or fancy car, just one to get around for now until you can save up enough to buy a better one. And keep dreaming about the BMW, man. Get a Chevy something or other. By the way, your parents are crazy if they think that you can get a perfect on the SAT. You can tell them I said that too.
  4. Ethier this person isnt serious or is seriously spoiled. Lets say his parents can afford to get him a 60,000 dollar car. WHY??? the odds are you will probly wreck it anyways. You know what my brother started out with back in 2000? A 1986 ford ranger HE paid for. It was blue and a red tailgate. It dosent kill you starting with a junker. He worked everynight and after about six months he stepped up. It just pis ses me off when these moochers expect to have a nicer or as nice of car as their parents.
  5. They will let you drive it when they are ready. you are still young and too inexperienced to drive. Also don't get a BMW because you WILL crash it. Every one gets into fender benders with their first cars but you WILL crash a BMW no one with little to no driving experience should ever drive anything with over 300 HP.
  6. ask them to get you a cheaper car like a civic si. cool car but only about 20 grand. you could also retake teh SATS but i wouldnt do that. your grade is wicked good. congrats and good luck with your ambitions.
