What do you have to do to get a license to attend car auctions in florida?
I see that there is a car dealer license that you need in florida to sell cars. But is that what you need to go to the car auctions? Or is a separate license needed?
Public Comments
- There are two types of auto auctions. Dealer auctions are only open to licensed dealers. Public auctions are open to anyone, and usually require a deposit to register and bid. To attend a dealer auction, you need to have a dealer license, and to register at the auction in question. Manheim auctions has many locations in Florida including: Manheim Central Florida Manheim Daytona Beach Manheim Doral Manheim Fort Lauderdale Manheim Fort Myers Manheim Imperial Florida Manheim Jacksonville Manheim Lakeland Manheim Ocala Manheim Orlando Manheim Palm Beach Manheim Pensacola Manheim St. Pete Manheim Tampa There are also othe auctions not owned by Manheim. Most dealer auctions use the AuctionAccess system, where you are issued a single card that is good at all participation auctions. At each auction, you will need to have your financial information approved.
- There are many car auctions that are open to the public. Some are conducted by auction companies, others by government agencies, police departments, and towing companies. Here's more details: http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/publiccarauctions.htm .
- You don't need a license to attend a car auction as long as it's open to the public. You only need to get a license if you plan on going to a dealer's auction, which can cost a bit. So, if you're only planning on buying a car for yourself every now and then you're better off with the public car auctions.
- Julie C, I found a review of several auto auction and government seized web sites. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Government-Seized-Auto-Auctions.html These sites probabaly have a FAQ page to help you. However they cost a small fee to join, but I couldn't find any free resources online. Since the inventory is always changing, your signup fee is probably used to keep the site up to date.
