is it possible to buy a car from the United Kingdom to use in SouthAfrica?

I would like to buy a second hand car in the UK and use it in South Africa. I asked a friend and he said Asian second hand cars were banned in SA because of being cheap and all. Does the same rule apply to the rest of the countries like the UK?

1. check with the local import export laws first before buying the car just in case
2. Asian cars are not banned, one is however not allowed to import left hand drive vehicles. There are heavy import duties levied on cars, up to 40% + of the vehicles value depending upon it's age.
3. You can buy cars from dubai and from Japan,too.
