Question about selling a car and lien release for title...?

If, after selling a car, you apply the money to the loan, but still have more to pay off, how would we go about getting a lien release to transfer the title of the car?

1. you need to go to the bank ( the one where you got the loan from of coarse ) and get the papers stating that the loan is clear and the car is fully paid off! then take it to your local DMV and get a clear title! if the lien is nolonger on that auto then the bank will need something else as collateral or have to rewrite the loan!
