How can these insurance companies like Geico claim to save you money on your car insurance when ?

when they are spending so much on stupid commercials

1. i know i totally agree! and why is the guy standing in the middle of the road in them? ya we want people like that....
2. Yeah......they could probably save us more if they didn't blow the budget of advertising. However, if they didn't advertise, we wouldn't know about them. Catch 22.
3. It's like politics - throw enough ads on the wall, and some are BOUND to stick. If you get enough people calling for quotes, some are BOUND to get a lower rate with you.
4. They claim they save you money, just like Progressive, but in reality they don't save you much money! I just got a price from both, Geico was about 200.00 less a year, Progressive was only 100.00 a year! And I ended up getting a better deal and better coverage from a nationallly recognised company,actually State Farm that is not so heavily advetised and ended up paying 500.00 less!! So shop around thoroughly, there are cheaper rates. It all depends on your driving record, age, where you live etc. Geico is no deal...and I can't stand their commercials!! .
5. Mintman you are right! GEICO spends over $500,000,000 a year on advertising!! I use a small less known company that spends $25,000 on advertising and I pay 1/2 what I did with Geico. No Joke!! I like there commercials but not there rates.
6. Their commercials are producing them money or they wouldn't buy them.
