what car do you know of or recommend that is gas saver and last long.?

Im planning to buy a car. new or used. either or. But Im looking for a car that saves gas because me and my husband drives alot. And last long for he drives crazy(sometimes). For what I know of toyota and honda have good cars. but what type? we have a pt cruiser right now that is really good with the gas but breaks easily. We just had it for a year and have lots of trouble and its brand new too. And if were goin to buy a used one not in a dealership but through direct owner or auction how can we know if the car runs good and no problem? I dont know anything about cars but just how to drive it. thanks my husband had a truck and it eats alot of gas. and we need a car that will help us save money especially that the economy is bad. any specific car? model? you know of? thanks

  1. Honda and Toyota are both excellent cars, very reliable and good gas mileage. If you want a car similar to your PT Cruiser look for a Scion. These are made by Toyota and good cars. If you want a regular car, Honda Civic or Accord are great.
  2. honda fit or toyota yaris or if you want a sedan... honda accord or civic. or toyota corolla or camry. personally, i'd go with the yaris or fit cause they look sporty. but if i had to choose a sedan, i'd choose the corolla. they've been known to sip gas, and last really long. the corolla is the best selling car in the world according to guiness. but yaris still uses less gas than the corolla.
  3. If you decide to buy a new car which is the best time to buy cars now due to the economic so the car dealers are trying to make sales of what they got in their lots. Any Toyota or Honda Hybrid car will save you money and are more reliable then others. I can recommend you Toyota Camry, Civic or Prius. Either one of these 3 are the ones that I personally driven and know that are reliable cars. Now if you dont want Hybrid my choices are Camry, Civic, Corolla and Accord. If you decide to buy a used car I will still recommend you either Toyota Corolla, Camry, Honda Accord, Civic, Acura TL, Nissan Altima and try to buy within a 2 years old prefer since it normally is under warranty with low mileages, make sure that you run or get a carfax report of that vehicle. If you find out that the car was sometime used as a rental dont buy it. If it was previously lease then is good. Check for normal tire wear that the treat are good so it can save you some money on buying new tires. Look for dents or any sign that shows that the car was painted previously specially half front of the vehicle. Dont show any rush to buy the car with the sales agent and check the price first with edmunds.com. If you pay for a car that is under the price that edmund shows you then you should be getting a deal on it. Good luck.
