Been racing for two years and you don't know how much for a modified? Turn key with a fair motor around $25K, more for a better motor (a Gaerte motor can cost $40k). You can probably get a roller for under $8000 if you shop around. Check out the on-line catalog at "speedwaymotors.com" and build your own for a fraction of the cost. A cost saving alternative would be one of the grass root modified divisions that have a ($) claim on the motor. These cars are fairly low-tech and the rules limit the engine modifications by allowing your engine to be bought at any time for a few hundred dollars.
