  1. My nephew just went thru this on a modified Honda Civic. Go to your insurance agent and have pictures and it documented what you have done to the car,,,, bring all receipts and anything showing the improvements made to the vehicle. It wont bring the insurance up that much,,, and if and when you have an accident you will get back everything you put into the car.
  2. they should cover the car but not the add-ons.
  3. Well, it's not INSURED for any modifications. If you want the modifications insured, you have to pay extra, under a customizing equipment endorsement. It's not value of car minus mods, it's stock value - actual cash value. And if you significantly modify the car - like adding in NO2 tanks, it can void the policy.
  4. there are two basic parts to insurance. Comp and lib. Lib covers you if you hit someone else. If this is ALL the coverage you have then No you do not have to tell them, as they do not cover the Comp insurance which pays damage to your vehicle. If you do carry Comp coverage and you do not tell them about upgrades and add ons then they do not have to cover anything damaged or stolen beyond the basic car listed. BTW you can n=only drop Comp in my state if there are no liens on the car, meaning it is paid off and you hold the title full and clear. Otherwise the lenders require Comp insurance.
  5. If you want to have coverage for the modifications then you need to notify your insurance company. Most policies have language that excludes coverage for these after market and specialty changes. Mbrcatz answer is also correct.
  6. I have met the similiar problem before -- still a little bit annoy, here http://www.AutoInsuranceFree.info/free-auto-insurance.htm is a good resource that help me out.
  7. You can compare how the quotes would change - in internet, for example here - car-insurance.22web.net
  8. For auto insurance the quick method to get a low quote is do a car policy comparison. If you choose the same coverage amounts, you can get an fast quote to compare against others. Use the same coverage area, car make and model, mileage and driving history to ensure you get an apples to apples comparison.
