Can I sell my car for parts?

I recently had an accident in my 1998 Honda Accord. IT'S TOTALED! The rest of the car is great. The transmission has been rebuilt, a couple of new axles, a BRAND NEW lifetime starter, it has all new pioneer speakers, a pioneer stereo system with color screen flip-down detachable faceplate, new tires, kept it clean, and kept all the maintenance records on it. Can I get any decent money for these parts or any of the other parts on the car? The car also only has 96000+ miles on it. What should I do?

  1. You could post it on craigslist to part it out, or call your local salvage yard, probably get $50 bucks for it.
  2. if you take it apart yourself and sell it for parts you could make some decent bank out of it. Probably even more than what you would've gotten if you sold the car as a whole before the accident.
  3. Yes you can. Register yourself at http://www.automotive-online.com for free and list your car parts. Buyers will contact you and you will get nice money for whatever you have.
  4. Sure you can. There are lots of Honda forum sites on the internet. Just join one or more of them that seem to have a lot of active members in your area and make a list of what's available from your car ( take pictures as well if you can ). Keep it up for sale for a few weeks and when the number of buyers and/or parts have dried up, call up a local wrecking yard and they will buy the shell from you ( although if it's stripped, they may not give you any money for it ).
