How do I sell a car with a salvaged title?

I own a car that had a reconstructed (salvaged) title when I bought it. The thing is I've had so many problems with the car that I really really want to avoid selling it to some poor sucker. But I really want to get rid of it! If I let it sell at an auction will it be sold as is? Also how much less will I get for the car at the auction rather than selling it privately. The car is a Dodge Sedan, fully loaded. I think the blue book value is between 4000 and 5000.
