Question about an Old Buick Car selling to the "junk cars for cash" buyers.?

It's an old buick, and it runs...but it's really old and ugly... I'm supposed to call this guy back when I have more information on the car, what price should I expect him to offer to me? I need to know what is not a RIPOFF. Because, I don't want some asshole to buy a car from me extremely cheap only to fix it up for half of the price he paid me and turn around and sell it for more..you know what I mean?? I don't know, it just seems like a scam, I'm probably overreacting.

  1. I doubt if you'll get more than $100 for it. Most dealers pay by weight class, big cars get more than little cars. Do not be concerned about what he gets out of it, that's his business and unlikely to find the old Classic, if it is an a Classic it will take $Ks to restore and years to complete. It's FREE MONEY, take it and run.
  2. And why do you think people buy old cars for cash? So they can wash and wax them and park them around their property and admire them? No, they pay what they are worth at the scapper, and if they aren't worth fixing they scrap them and break even. Otherwise they fix them and sell them, at a profit. If you think you can fix it and sell it instead, by all means do so.
  3. a lot depend,s on ...what year, model,& condition. let,s say a 1957 buick wildcat in restoreable condition could bring a good buck. maybe even a 1987 buick grand national....or other special interest model. but if it,s a 1980 buick skylark...don,t expect much more than scrap...say $25 to 30 dollar,s.
