- The medical claim is separate from the physical damage claim. I would not consider settling the medical claim for at least a month or two after treatment is complete to make sure that you have really recovered. Typically, a medical claim is settled for two or three times the amount of medical costs.
- Your chiropractor will be stringing you along for a while. That is how they make their money. They convince you that you will need several "treatments" but you won't really get better for a long time according to them. See a real doctor and then proceed from there. As far as a reasonable settlement goes, it would vary with the situation. Just don't convince yourself you have "won the lottery" and are entitled to a huge sum because you were in a wreck. Don't bother with a lawyer unless you are absolutely sure that the settlement is unfair or there are other problems arising. A lawyer will automatically get at least 33% of any settlement awarded. Those who instantly suggest it have nothing to lose by doing so.
- get a lawyer first thing, dont talk to their ins co. you might need to get MRI. IT MEANS MORE MONEY IN THE END
- whatever it is dont take the first offer..I would get a lawyer who will work on contingency...He would give you at least what they first offered plus a percentage of what extra he can get you.....
