why arent there any small car hybrids for sale? aka, vw golf hybrid?

we know we have the technology to create vehicles that surpass the 250Mph speed barrier, we have the technology to make cars travel across the water. so why aren't there small cars out there taking full advantage of the available hybrid technology? and instead of just throwing an electric motor, why don't we utilise our knowledge of engines and produce something that's truthfully efficent?

  1. I don't know if you would class a Honda Civic as a small car but they are right into the green car idea Also dunno if you are aware, but Formula 1 have just invented a system called CURS I believe it is. It is a system that builds up with heat energy as they brake at high speeds, and stores it in a little battery if you will, and will give them extra HP at the press of a button latter when the battery is full. It is being introduced in 2009. I believe they will soon be putting smart ideas like that into our normal day to day cars, maybe not like CURS to build up horspower, but for the engine to run off this power to save fuel and money, and of coarse, the environment. Cheers ;)
  2. there are some coming :-D take a look at the Air powered car I know it sound funny and like it wont work but they really do in fact there are road tests going on right now to prove that they are safe for US driving and the great thing is they will get like close to 100 MPG plus they have a truly Hybrid engine that can use gas, diesel, ethanol, bio-diesel, or plane vegetables oils without needing to change out different parts look up Tata motors they're an Indian car maker that has licensed the technology from a french company that has been working on it for like the last decade cant wait to see one on the road
  3. There was the Honda Insight, the first (and best) hybrid available in the US, but it was too small for American tastes and was killed off in favor of the Environmentally Conscious Rice Boy Special, I mean uh, Civic hybrid. Truth is, hybrids generate more pollution in their production than they prevent. In Europe you can buy a Golf that runs on biodiesel and gets 60+mpg. The technology does exist, we just need to get them produced over here.
  4. Because people are idiots. A lot of Americans want to drive the biggest, most hideously inefficient vehicles they can afford. And take a look at GM, Ford, and Chrysler - run by idiots. They don't like to make small cars, because the profit per unit is lower than on a $50,000 SUV. They would rather buy them from Asia and put a new label on them. And the Asian carmakers are too smart to let them do this to their best high-tech cars. And many of these best high-tech mini-cars can't be imported to the US because they don't meet the safety requirements that are demanded by the soccer-moms in their SUVs and vans. Or something like that.
