I want to sell my new car, is it fair to ask for 10k in cash?
I don't want to take any checks because you can get screwed in the process. The car is a 2007 Kia, I bought it for 15k, would it be fair to ask for 10k in cash when selling it?

- Of course its fair, a lot of people this days like to scam so I will ask for cash only and you should put it on your add so you only get serious buyers. good luck selling your car
- First thing you should do is, Go to the website http://www.kbb.com. It is the kelley blue book. That will tell you or give you a good idea what your car is actually worth. Then you can get a fair deal. I hope that website works, if not just do a search on the web for kelley blue book.
- Never accept a personal check or any type of money order. Not many people feel safe carrying that kind of cash with them, even if it's from one bank to another. I would not think twice about accepting a bank draft or a wire transfer from a local lender. But I would conduct this transaction at my bank with a loan officer present. Sit down with the buyer and do all the paperwork in your bank. Don't sign over any documents until the funds are secured. As far as how much to sell the car for and what is a fair asking price, you need to consult the online price guides for an estimate of the vehicles value.
- With the crime around I wouldn't cally $10000 around and you shouldn't either. Go with the buyer to his bank and get a cashiers check.
