How would restoring a classic car benefit the community?
I need to answer this for my senior project because I am restoring a car for my fieldwork. But the teacher wants the fieldwork to benefit the community. How would I tell him it is?

- If it once belonged to some one of importance or was made there then it would otherwise no.
- It doesn't...... Most classic cars don't have emissions. Which means it's adding to the high rate of pollution. Most old cars also use refrigerant that depletes the ozone, so unless you change it, that's a problem as well.. Other than that, restoring a car is pretty much a selfish thing. It benefits the person restoring it, and that's about it.
- you and your classmates restore the car then offer at auction with the proceeds going to a local charitable group.it never hurts to help some body, because someday it may be you that needs the help.
- When you get the local machinist and the painter to work on the car parts and body aesthetics, that's infusion of revenue to the local industry. If you sell the classic car, the taxes paid will benefit the local economy. If you keep the car, that can serve as inspiration to the youth and complements the city's historical treasures. If you attract tourists to view your car, it helps hotels restaurants and the police budget (for those tickets, fines and citations issued for traffic violators!!!).
- If its too loud then it will only cause trouble.
- One of the other answers pretty much covers the economic impact of a restoration (support of the local machine shop, paint & body, etc. ). Additionally, a properly restored classic will not be leaking oil, antifreeze, or other chemicals that can find their way into the water-table. Rebuilding the engine will result in it running cleaner and more efficiently (assuming you don't go full race with it). By restoring a classic you are also helping with the safety of other drivers. The restoration will include things such as brakes, tires, and various parts rubber suspension parts that make the vehicle handle better than an unrestored vehicle. Good luck with it. And don't let any tree hugger types tell you what to do. They are just jealous because your ride is much cooler than a Prius.
