Do car dealerships buy cars from the public?

Looking to sell my car (Ireland) but I don't really want the hassle of selling privately. I don't need another car so I just want to sell this one. Will dealers buy from the public? sister's being trying to privately sell a very good car for the last 9 months and not one call...the private market is dead here I think.

yes, but you won't get a good deal for it. It's not much hassle selling privately. As long as the car runs ok, the buyer will know that there's no warranty.

yes you can but they will try to do you over and get you to sell it to them on the cheap. id personally try to sell it privately as you are more likely to get a good price for it the dealers are money grabbing bast...individuals.
Some will but they may not be too keen unless they have a purchaser in mind. All you can do is ask.
sell privately if you can but have sold as seen in writing and put a prise in the car window with a full tank of petrol and or near offer ie ONR sold mine like that sold with in two days
They do. You pay for the convenience of turning over the "sale" to them..
If you have a good car which is in excellent condition then how come you could not sell it? anyway, they do buy the cars but each dealers deals differently. Call them and ask them if they want to buy your car. Give the details of your car and they will tell you. Also ask them for suggestion or may be they refer some other dealer. But I am not sure if they sell/buy single vehicle. Anyway you call those approved dealers and ask if they are interested or ask for suggestion. Cheers
