Need to refinance car loan, what are my options?

I bought a new car around July and my mom co-signed on it with me due to a previous accident that hurt my credit I had no choice. My mom now wants to be taken off the loan so she can refinance her home due to my parents separating. I have called Chase and they wont allow me to take her off. What are my options to get a loan with just me. I have had a previous loan and never missed a payment on it for 3 years. Would credit unions be my best bet, any banks in MO or in general you can recommend. Any help would be greatly appreciated as my mom has been stressing me out about this constantly.

  1. If you needed a cosigner three months ago, what makes you think that you'll qualify without one now? Lenders have been tightening credit standards lately. Also, do you have any positive equity in the car? Did you put anything down when you bought it? It likely lost 20% of its resale value as soon as you titled it. If you're in negative equity territory, no lender will refi.
  2. This is an exercise in futility.
  3. Bad timing. Credit markets are very tight and if you needed a cosigner last July, you probably still need one. Tell Mommy to suck it up.
