What is a good cheap/free way to get a written appraisal on a classic car?

Very close to purchasing a classic car. In order to get the heavily discounted collector car insurance, I need a written appraisal of the car's value. Just wondering what is a good way to go about getting a written appraisal for very cheap or free? I am on a pretty tight budget.

1. Try to find one like yours for sale on the net and see what they want? Maybe just driving into a nice carlot or going to a show where there are many classic car owners and see what they say????Miss Mary
