Overhaulin'

Does anyone know of a site that can accurately estimate an antique/classic cars value?

I am thinking of selling a car that I have owned for over 30 years and would like to get an accurate estimate of it's value. I realize that times are tough for just about everyone, but that shouldn't effect the car's actual value should it? As I have been in the restoration bussiness for many years now, I am very aware of the condition of the auto. It was bead blasted on rotissery just about 3 years ago. Also the drive train (although not original) was completely rebuilt at that time as well. I am just looking for an estimate of value.

  1. Collector Car Market Review can help you estimate the value of older cars. They can help with cars made from 1946 to 1979. When estimating your old car, be honest with yourself on the vehicle's condition and you will have a more accurate value of the car. It is very easy to consider your car in better condition than it really is. Also, ultimately the value of an old car is how large of check that someone is willing to write you for it.
  2. The value of anything is what a willing buyer will pay and a willing seller will accept. Right now is not a good time to sell a classic car, seeing as many people are cutting back on spending. You can get an idea of the value of your vehicle from the Gold Book site http://www.manheimgold.com/ Understand that you need to rate the vehicle accurately to get a true picture. As a rule of thumb, if you think the car is in good condition, a professional may rate it as high as fair. Do not expect the top value for your car unless it is very special!
  3. Nobody can give you an accurate evaluation without seeing the car in person. Locate a local dealer who offers appraisal services or an Insurance agent that specializes in Vintage vehicles. He can value the car for insurance purposes and that will give you an idea of the replacement value. The only way to get a proper appraisal is in person.
  4. Best site would be an antique or classic car dealer. Keep it for another 30 years cause it might be your best investment.
