How can a 17yearold get insured on a classic car?
I'm a 17 year old driver in staffordshire, i'm looking to purchase either a triumph gt6 or a triumph spitfire, however the insurance quotes im getting (even with my dad as the main driver) are over the value of the car! (approx £3500). does anyone know any specialist companies i could contact? thank you in advance

- You just need to search round have you tried all the comparison sites - there are about 10 of them out there. Try saying you'll do pass plus, the car will be locked in a garage, the car has an alarm system, and tweek yr dad's job description can make it cheaper. Also you can pay more excess and the insurance price will drop but beware u can pay alot if u have an accident! Also search for third party only - some policies will offer extras like fire and theft and courtesy car if they do that's great but for the cheapest quote say u just want comprehensive.
- Any sporty vehicle is going to cost more in insurance. And then you are young -which makes it alot more. No matter where you go-- it will cost alot. I know i went thru this last year with my 18 yr. old daughter. Males the same age cost even more. I have full coverage on both vehicles, so its more than just liability, but to me I'd rather have that extra protection, especially for my daughter. I checked with every company in the phonebook. I got the best price, and by far the best coverage at State Farm. Also most insurance companies now do credit checks, and base their price on how good your credit is. GOOD LUCK.
- I recommend an online insurance quote. It's free and quick to do. http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-Insurance.html Good Luck.
- You might have better luck with an Insurance company that deals with classic cars on a regular basis. Try Hagerty Insurance or Loyds of London.
- I would like to suggest you get as much information as you could before taking action, here http://www.CarInsuranceTip.info/free-car-insurance.htm is a good place for that.
- Hi dude, i think footman james is just a classic car insurer. I was going to get a classic beetle as my first car and they were recommended to me. Not sure if they are cheap though as i never got a quote www.footmanjames.co.uk Grant ;o)
