Has anyone used Escrow.com to buy a car online and is it safe?

I'm considering buying a car online and I was wondering how safe it is to do so. I would appreciate any and all advise on the matter. Thank you!

1. Escrow.com is OK because it is associated with eBay, but any online car purchase should be done with a great deal of caution, especially when the price is too good to be true. There are many scams that use fake escrow companies that sound like Escrow.com, or have similar names, but are not. Sometimes the seller will claim to use Escrow.com and then have you switch to his own fake escrow company somewhere in the process.
