If someone pays you with a certified bank check made to you and the lien holder can you deposit it?

Hello I have recently sold my car, still in my possession to someone who will pay me with a certified bank check (after checking with the bank and making funds available) made to myself and the lien holder. Do I deposit this into my bank account then pay the lien or does it go directly to the lien holder?? thanks.

1. you better try cashing the check to see if its good or not before letting them drive away with your car never take a check unless your a bank cash only id tel them to cash it and come back to get car
2. You take it to your lien holder. Both of you will have to endorse it.
