there is a lien on a car I'm trying to sell can Wells Fargo release the lien if the loan was from Wachovia? ?
The bank is closed its a sunday so i can't call and ask them. I'm trying to sell the car early tommorw I know Wachovia was bailed out by wells fargo...does it mean that they can now handle these sort of things?

- They wont release the lien until you pay off your loan with them, and your lien is still held with the original bank regardless of the bailout.
- No. When a bank takes over it has nothing to do with any business you have with previous bank as they buy all accounts as is too.
- The transition hasn't been completed nationwide yet. Many cities still have both Wachovia and Wells Fargo banks. If this is the case with your area, continue to deal with Wachovia since they have all your loan information. If there's only Wells Fargo where you live, they've absorbed all of Wachovia's customer information as well as assets, loans and accounts. In this situation you can go to the nearest Wells Fargo to pay off your loan and the lien will be released.
