Where's the best place to buy a cheap used car in the Vancouver area?

I'm looking for something that won't crap out on me, but my budget is only $1,000. Any good experiences with used lots or auction houses? Any 'car search' agencies? I prefer not to buy privately, for my own reasons.

1. Try Richmond Automall. 16 dealers so lots of selection. But $1,000 isn't a lot....
