What's the best way to sell an old car?

I have a 1978 Celica. It still runs fine and passes smog. I heard there are programs in Southern California that retire old cars to reduce air pollution and pay you $500-$1,000. Anyone know about these programs? Is there a better way to sell an old car and get more money?

1. It passes you need to sell it then. Craigslist is good for free to.

3. I sold my car to the Old Vehicle Clearinghouse clean air program. They're great and I got $1,000. Here's their website -- http://www.4nosmog.com It was an easy way to sell my car and not deal with people coming to my house. I think I also got a lot more than if I sold it to a private party.
