Overhaulin'

I need help with a Car Title Loan.?

I have a title loan in the amount of $1900. The payments are $459 every month. I closed my bank account due to some other payday loans before my first payment was due. I contacted the company via phone (left message) and email on several occassions asking them to contact me regarding my account and letting them know that I had to close my account and I wanted an address I could send a money order to for my payment. Needless to say, I never received a call or email back until my payment did not go through. I have since sent numerous emails and made several phone calls returning messages (I can't take calls at work) with no luck or help from anyone. I received a response letting me know that I owed $918 not $459. They are now saying that I have to pay $459 every 2 weeks, not every month. I don't see this anywhere on the contract that I signed. I have done some research on these types of loans and know that they are bad. I just don't want my car to be repossessed. I have some money to pay them, but not all of it and I would like some legal advice on how I can make arrangements to pay them and not lose my car.

  1. I'm not surprised that these people are difficult to get in touch with and neither should you. These people make a living off of taking advantage of people. Since you were not able to pay that first time, you are technically delinquent on your account. This is the reason they are asking for $918 (2 X $459). Once you are caught up, you may be able to renegotiate a lower payment. However, I would encourage you to pay this thing off as aggressively as you possibly can because I'm sure the interest rate is outrageous. Do your best to hound these people until you get a real person on the phone, even if you have to take your entire lunch break or something to call them during business hours. Explain the situation. Chances are, they won't have any mercy on you but at least you'll know that you've done everything in your power to work at it. Good luck.
